Three years later, I'm seeing lots of church friends posting memories of the innovative work we were all doing at the beginning of the pandemic. There was lots of excitement about the innovative approaches we took to being the Church in unprecedented times.

Three years later, the prevailing sentiment (at least around me) is about how we need to return, full strength, to the pre-COVID ways of being church. Anything new can be jettisoned (because according to some, the pandemic is over by now) or continued *alongside* the old tasks.

Three years later, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes someone else would help fly the plane while I'm working on a new design. Or that someone else would just build a plane and let me fly it. Or that some flight attendants could help take care of the passengers.

Sadly, the airline sometimes acts like the best way forward is to get pilots to fly more than one plane at a time. But it's only part-time on each route, so it's equivalent to a full-time position. But the multiple responsibilities just mean the pilots can now get overwhelmed *twice* as quickly. Whether priest or pastor, whatever you call your clergy or church leaders, please keep them in your prayers, especially as we get ready for the busiest and most exhausting time of the year.
